Well Good Morning, Valentine's Day! Have a Cupcake

Posted By on Mon, Feb 14, 2011 at 6:52 PM

Happy Valentine's Day, Bent Readers! Here, have a cupcake

Probably one of the best Valentine's presents I've received in a while was waking up this morning at my house on Hill Street and Delaware and realizing that I could, for the first time ever, walk across the street and buy a muffin and a cup of coffee instead of driving downtown or starving until lunch, because I'm too lazy and/or don't have gas in my car. This is because Gotta B Gluten Free opened this morning. Happy Valentine's Day, indeed!

Hey, it's the little things that count.  But seriously, thank you Gotta B Gluten Free for making muffins and red velvet cupcakes that taste like regular moist, awesome baked goods instead of seeds and dry, chalky crackers. It's a Valentine's Day miracle. Welcome to the neighborhood.

Celebrate Love With Free Coffee

Posted By on Mon, Feb 7, 2011 at 7:49 PM

Valentine's Day is upon us, with just one week left to figure out how to make love explode all over your relationship (or find a way to avoid the whole ordeal altogether if you're not feeling the love). But even if you hate Hallmark holidays, there are a few good things about next Monday.

One of those things is Dutch Bros. giving out free 12 oz. coffee drinks to anyone who donates three cans of food for NeighborImpact. It's called "Dutch Love Day" and it's happening at each Dutch Bros. in Bend and Redmond. Just drop your cans off at Dutch Bros. and get your coffee. Now that's what we call spreading the love.

One Night Homeless Count Today

Posted By on Thu, Jan 27, 2011 at 7:10 PM

The Homeless Leadership Coalition's One Night Homeless Count started today at 10 a.m. The count, which began in 2006, aims to count each homeless person in Central Oregon, from those at homeless camps to those staying temporarily in motels.

We're spending the day at the count, at locations including the Family Kitchen, the Bethlehem Inn, and the United Methodist Church downtown on Bond Street. Homeless can come to each of these locations to pick up blankets, water bottles, pet food, propane, food, and goodie bags like this:

If you're homeless, here are the locations to go to be counted and score donated food and provisions:

Bend- Trinity Episcopal Church/Family Kitchen- 231 NW Idaho

Light snacks starting at 10:00am and dinner served from 5:00pm to 6:30pm.

Bend- COCC Campus Center– Office of Student Life– 11:00am to 12:00am and 3:00pm to 4:30pm.

Lapine- Lapine Community Kitchen- 16480 Finley Butte Road –Lunch served noon to 2:00pm.

Redmond- Senior Center- 325 NW Dogwood– Soup served from noon to 5:00pm and Jericho’s Table dinner served from 5:00pm to 6:00pm.

Sisters- Kiwanis Food Bank- 225 N Oak Street– 9:00am to 2:00pm.

Posted By on Mon, Jan 24, 2011 at 7:25 PM

Having money disputes? Is your significant other's eye wandering too far for your liking? Does your husband snore really loud? Does your HGH-using boyfriend make out with other girls at clubs in front of you?

OK, Ronnie and Sammi are an extreme case. But even so, you probably have a relationship question that just can't be solved. Why not let our bonafide relationship expert solve it for ya?

Submit your questions to sara@tsweekly.com. Deadline is Wednesday at 10 am. We'll print the answers in this year's Love Issue on February 10, along with our lust list and some other awesome articles on love and sex. Hopefully, we can help you avoid a Jersey Shore-style situation like this:

God I love that show.
