Re: “Green Building: A Smart Investment?

You know what's even greener than green buildings? Building things close enough together so that people don't have to drive for *everything* in their lives:

Of course that's not for everyone, but if the market will produce it, we should allow it.

Re: “County Board vs. Marijuana: Axes are grinding

The only politics involved here is with the reporter. Must be from The Source, a left-wing rag in Central Oregon. Obviously, this county like others in the state, are going through growing pains with a myriad of items regarding marijuana production. I say, take it slow and easy folks. Once these farms are online itll take monumental action to amend and stop any counterproductive impact on a county. I commend the commissioners for their deliberate, precautionary actions.

Re: “County Board vs. Marijuana: Axes are grinding

This is the beginning of what I would define as "poor governance" by the two Republican County Commisoners. Both have a biased political agenda with little regard for the county regulations that are in place.

Re: “A Secret Committee Revealed

God! I wish they would do a secret committee on gun violence instead.

If the Rhinestone Ranch wants to be an actual children's activity center then it really should have a permit and be open to inspection for safety.

Re: “This Modern World

Medicare-for-all cost estimates exceed $32T over ten years. Total federal tax revenue for 2019 is estimated at $3.4T. Medicare-for-all thus would double taxes. Since not all citizens pay federal income taxes, it will become necessary to expand the tax base to include nearly everyone who does not pay federal income tax now. Effectively, those who are younger, healthier and who can least afford Medicare insurance premiums and contributions will subsidize older, less healthy retirees. Have at it. Just give Howard Schultz or Michael Bloomberg a ring for a bit of economic education.

Don't confuse health insurance with health care. The best way to reduce the cost of health care and expand its availability is to produce more doctors and health professionals. If you want to spend tax dollars to improve health care, consider subsidizing medical education costs to promote the desirability of a medical education to more students. This country can use more doctors and fewer cartoonists.

Re: “River Warrior

Always interesting to hear from our liberal citizens regarding climate change. I wonder how many natural climate changing events have occurred during this spheres billions of years, without man. To point to specific occurences such as wildly different weather patterns, that are normal, we conveniently point to climate change then live with guilt that every thing man touches has a direct and instant impact is ludicrous.

Funny, this crisis shifted from global cooling to global warming and now that neither of those can accurately cover nature - the catch-all is climate change.

I absolutely believe we should live responsibly with our lives and respect one another and the environment. But dont smear me with wild unsubstantiated arguments that lean left, policitally. Straw men only stand so long - so liberals, keep your your statements factual.

How may tons of carbon pollution from wildfires has been released into the atmosphere? How many of these fires could have been avoided by managing our forests responsibly as commercial companies do by thinning and harvesting?

Amazing thought process with our liberal friends that lack logic connectivity.

Ps. The fact about homelessness can be found here: http://www.cohomeless.org

Re: “A Statewide Rent Control Bill

You have no facts backing you up. When I find the bill online, you bet I'll be looking into it, because I'm not convinced by a real estate broker, or someone closely connected to real estate has an unbiased outlook on this bill. Rent Control makes perfect sense as hundreds of people are homeless in Central Oregon. Unless there's a catch in this bill (which is why we have to do our homework), there's no reason why we need to increase rent every year, and our wages remain the same.

Re: “A Statewide Rent Control Bill

Boohoo! Get a real job instead of hoarding homes for a living! The alternative to rent control legislation is conflict (which landlords have historically nearly always lost just fyi).

Re: “A Statewide Rent Control Bill

Bro, the people who own the rentals are rich, getting money off the backs of the renters. They SHOULD make less.

You are obviously a shill for the rich, white property owners who are against these bills. These bills are to protect the poor workers against the evil tactics of the landlords.

I know how it works. Last year, I was late with rent by two days and the landlord evicted me. Then he tried to keep my deposit because I didn't clean it to his requirements.

See what I mean? Totally unfair.

Pass these bills. Im super glad we have good democrats finally in control of this state full of mean rich people. Maybe now we normal workers can get a brake.

Re: “Canada's Legalization, Four Months In

Canada created communist cannabis. Its all big money! You could learn about freedom from the USA! Also enjoy the fame while you have it, because as soon as we can export cannabis, west coast weed will continue to dominate global sales. O and thats just 1 of our 50 states. It will only take 1 American state to put to shame the entire country of canada. You may have got a head start on export, but you forgot one key factor in the long run.... Cali weed is a global cannabis brand, it has been for years. No one gives a fuck about about canada's shity weed!
