Re: “Talkin' With the Law

Nice to have a law enforcement leader who tells it like it is and has the sources and facts to back up his responses.

Re: “Do You Even Home Brew, Bro?

When will all these obnoxious home brewers over brewing, making my neighborhood smell and causing pandemic yeast infections start being raided by the Deschutes Bag Sheriff's Office?

When will the illegal overproduction of beer end!

Re: “Tokin' Women: A shout-out to women in cannabis

Nola Evangelista is correct. It's Alice Toklas and the first she ever knew about pot brownies was when she inadvertently included a recipe from her friend Brion Gysin for them in her cookbook. She was totally unprepared for the furore that broke out as a result, not apparently having any idea of the implications of including hashish as an ingredient. She certainly never would have served them up to guests at Gertrude Stein's salon (Gertrude was long dead by the time the recipe came to Alice).

Re: “Tokin' Women: A shout-out to women in cannabis

Nice article (and headline)! This story repeats the myth about Queen Victoria using cannabis; we dont know that for sure, only that one of her physicians sang its praises. Also questionable is the Alice B. Toklis [sic] speculation. Heres some more accurate info on Stein and Toklas:

And here's Tokin' Women's official International Women's Day post, where you can read about Ten Tokin' Women from Egypt, India, China, Norway, France, Serbia, Denmark, Ireland, Scotland and the United States:

Folks can buy the Tokin' Women book (and support Cal NORML) by visiting:

Happy Womens Day everyone!

Re: “Housing State of the Union

It's an artificial shortage. The country just doesn't give a darn about anyone but the well off. Government needs to step in, starting from Washington DC on down. We have trillions for the military but ZERO for people working two jobs and still can't make it. The poor frequently pay at a higher tax rate than the well to do. The crazies have taken over, and they expect everything to be peachy keen.

Re: “Prices Up, Inventory Tight

This is crazy. The construction industry should be ashamed of themselves and so should the city of Bend. There is no excuse other than they want poor people to be out of sight, BUT BE ON THE JOB - ON TIME! America has gone to the dogs. Unfortunately those who would like to move to more humane environs are SOL. Foreigners don't want us. They think we're all packing AR-15's.
