Re: “The Ayn-Credibles

"If you're not born exceptional, then you'll never really enter the rarified air of those who are naturally gifted. "

This is not Ayn Rand. She did not champion the innate over the earned. She champions high-achievers, high-producers, yes, but on the merit of their thought, actions, chosen values. It's not about your intrinsic talents, it's about your accomplishments through will.

Frankly, the air breathed by strivers from all levels and corners of humanity is rare because so many attempt little except drift.

Re: “Forget Paris: The Saboteur fails in Nazi-occupied France

I disagree. The Saboteur was a highly underrated video game. Granted it may not be a masterpiece, but point out to me another classy video game set in WWII Nazi-Occuppied France with addictive gunplay and gorgeous graphics? And by the way, almost every possible Paris landmark exists within the game and to excruciating detail - perhaps you put it down to soon to see?

Re: “Hated in the Nation

Knee-capping your opponent is more than a "poor choice", it demonstrates a void of the values necessary for life outside of jail. She should have been watching the Olympics from her cell.

Re: “Illegal Aliens

What has the word "Illegal" have to do with this article? This sounds like a slam on undocumented workers as some how being from another planet. Rather stupid head line.

Re: “Glacial Warning

Just a note that West Kootenay EcoSociety is suing the province to get rid of the "Town of Nothing". We had our day in court in July and are waiting for a judgment.

Re: “The Muse of John Hughes

John Hughes and Molly Ringwald both shared the same birthday (February 18th), so I'm sure there was a bit of a kinship between the two. It's a shame that they didn't continue working together, but I'm glad they gave us such iconic films when they had their chance.

Thanks! That was hilarious! I'm sure you've seen the SNL skit about her. Too funny.

Re: “The Ayn-Credibles

In this world of limited resources, it stands as tough love to pull some weeds so the garden of edibles can thrive, not be overwhelmed by population explosion. In other words, as Pope Francis recently said, "It is not a sin to prevent a life. It is a sin to take a life." The murderous cartels and terror in central america are created in a situation of poverty driven more desperate by ever-more unwanted children born into hopeless and brutal conditions. There is no sense to this. Get initiatives on the ballot in every state to fund clinics performing vasectomies on vast numbers of men. The procedure is essentially painless and cost far less than ligation in women.

While we're at it, train an army of suitably talented young dreamers and send them back into central america to mercilessly wipe out the cartels. They will be victorious and will have earned that most hard-won gift, the sense of pride in defending their homeland. After that, they will be given full citizenship in the United States of America, or they can perhaps go home to lead their native land forward with policies that improve things.

With love and respect for this precious home world and humankind.

Re: “Dateline NBC reports on murder of Kaylee Sawyer

Irene, you will have to ask Dateline NBC. They probably have it available for streaming.

Re: “We All Float

Well done!!! Great review!!! Even though I hate horror movies that are "too real" and avoid them like The Plague, I do appreciate someone who can make sense of why the genre even keeps going, and > has the balls to reasonably explain why he might crazily take his KIDS to it, too?! Heck, yeah. Don't invite me to your house!!

Re: “Christina Ricci's Forehead

I agree. You don't joke about things that people can't help.Reese Witherspoon has a very
unusual chin but I think she is a great beauty as is Christinia Ricci. If we all looked alike that
would be very sad. You should feel very bad making all those comments. If Ms. Ricci read this she
may be hurt by it. Have you ever heard the old saying if you don't have anything nice to say
about anybody don't say anything at all?

Re: “Choose To Accept Him

The point isn't about Scientology, the point, as I made with the Jon Voight comparison, is separating an artist from their art. Whether it be Cruise, Polanski or Woody Allen, is separating an artist from their art even possible anymore?

Re: “More Than Ski Porn

I can remember when Warren Miller himself would bring his films to Bend High and and we would float out of there and start the snow dance ! I sure hope the endless winter peeps still have that kinda spirit.

Okay I'm very sorry but this article on Christina Ricci's forehead is totally uncalled for. Try looking in the mirror and stop being mean to Christina.

Re: “Who is John Galt? Who Gives a Crap?: Atlas Shrugged's tea party flops hard

Ah, the delegate from the Republic of Wingnuttia is heard from. Hey Jim, the last I checked, the Tea Party had a DISapproval rating of something like 72%. So it might just be a little premature to start talking about the whuppin' you're going to lay on Obama.
