Re: “Dual Sport Mission

What a great story, Ms. Collins! You really brought the reader into your "moments along the way" with humor and compassion. It's also obvious that you have been blessed with a wonderful friend. Finally, I appreciate you not giving your location, keeping special places unadvertised. Looking forward to reading more of your stories!

Another positive for El Sancho is that they treat their employees well, including part time staff. Well deserved!

Re: “Hoodoo or Bachelor?

The story forgot to mention that Hoodoo is the one not owned by a giant and evil corporation.

Re: “Beacon to the Backcountry

AMGA courses hardly fit the description posed by the previous comment. All courses are field-based, have multiple examination components, and take place over multiple years, with interim prerequisites, and loads of complementary experiential requirements. Also, there is a significant failure rate. AMGA.com details the rigor of these courses for anyone who wants to understand the significance of IFMGA certification.

Re: “Beacon to the Backcountry

This has nothing to do with this guy but certifications do not mean competency. Taking a bunch of open book everyone who pays passes classes to get a certification in something should not give people a false seance of security that the said person knows anything about what they are certified in. More often than not it is just something for the person to brag about because that was more important than actually learning something important.
Knowledge is power and can be achieved without paying for certification.

Re: “Hoodoo or Bachelor?

If you want to drive to the mountain and find out the parking lot is not plowed and no lifts are spinning on a powder day... go to Mt. Bachelor, want to actually ride, drive a little further and go to Hoodoo.

Re: “Cowgirl Up!

My boyfriend and I wanted to learn a new skill together. Luckily, there's a dance studio that offers free private lesson for country western dance and a number of other dance programs as well.

Nice to have a law enforcement leader who tells it like it is and has the sources and facts to back up his responses.

Re: “Woman of the Year: Betsy Warriner

I just read this quote and it made me think of Ms. Warriner...Meeting her, by chance and only a time or two, is a blessing in and of itself.

"I have been confronted with many difficulties throughout the course of my life... but I laugh often, and my laughter is contagious. Of course problems are there, but thinking only of the negative aspect doesnt help to find solutions, and it destroys peace of mind. This attitude comes to me, from my practice."
