Re: “Tired of newcomers, Portlanders make anti-tourism video

wow. So much negativity over a funny video. I'm an Oregon native, but new to Portland. I'm not a vegan (or even a vegetarian...and yes, I know the difference)...I don't brew my own beer at home...or even drink beer, really. I'm just an average guy from the coast who moved here because it's a great city with great people. Personally, I love that Portland is being recognized for the amazing (though slightly absurd) place that it is...and I have NO PROBLEM with new people coming here. That creates diversity, which Portland thrives on. Portland has it's own culture, which is great, and no one wants it to change...but that culture can't exist without diversity...and diversity can't exist without DIFFERENCES. Certain types of people can be annoying. True. It doesn't matter where they come from...what they eat (or drink); what they drive; or what they look like. Douche bags exist in every corner of the world....but so do good people. Those of you who feel threatened by "new things" or "new people" belong in the "douche bag" category, by the way.

Re: “Clothing Wars

If Under Armour is suffering losses because of a small company like Cascade Armory, they were already in trouble. Glad that I have never bought anything from UA! It's too expensive and THAT'S their problem!

Re: “No More Killing Coyotes for Sport

Mr. Anderson, speaking only for the 'Ranchers' that you mention in your article, what Ranchers did you interview and which Ranches did you visit and research for this article? No, coyotes are not our 'Nemesis', yes the coyotes kill and dine on NEWBORN CALVES, not livestock in general. (and no we are not alarmed) You suggest since the 30's and 40's long term ecological damages would result. Would you be specific please? No, we do not have an 'urge to kill' with expensive weapons.(and please be specific about these 'expensive' weapons you have implied we use) Ranchers are NOT 'senseless killers of everything' and no, 'tiny sagebrush and meadow voles cannot put 'cowmen' out of business. I have never heard of you and neither have many other ranchers here in Harney County. Your article is an example of the trash that passes for 'journalism' today and I am disappointed you felt the need to include your fabrications about Ranchers in your story.

Re: “Clothing Wars

This is all about Trump style aggressive business tactics. In no stretch of the imagination does Cascade Armory pose any form of financial threat to Under Armor. It is doubtful that they (Under Armor) can actually prevail. The words armor and armory are common usage in the English language. Under Armor is depending on the high cost of defending their cease and desist order will prevent further litigation. Similar tactics have been employed by Starbucks and Fresh Mex.
I have never bought any products from Under Armor and definitely never will. I would support and encourage a go fund me effort to raise defense funds for Cascade Armory.

Re: “Clothing Wars

As the parent of a young ninja warrior in training they just lost any business we would have ever given them. I guess they outta sue God too seeing as the Bible talks about putting on the Armor of God. Where is this nonsense going to stop. Big boots trying to stomp out the little ants that might get a crumb. What a joke!

Re: “Tired of newcomers, Portlanders make anti-tourism video

You know what? Everyone should stop going. EVERYONE. And when the population drops as people die off, yes even you folks will die, then you can sell your services and goods to the 25 people remaining and the last one to die shut out the lights.

No worries from me. Oregon would be one of the last places Id ever think of going. Enjoy it.

Re: “Packing Off Pack Rats: Don't kill the rats, move 'em

Um..Im pretty sure the packrats and any other "unwanted" creature was here first. The earth is theirs not ours. We are the godzillas that destroy habitats, poison the air, water and land. Humans are supposed to put their brains to use, either leave nature alone or help it survive whether its on your property or not.
Compared to human waste and destruction, rats of all kinds deserve more respect. They have close knit families- no dead beat dads I bet and they dont go around killing each other unless they are starving. Which I totally get.
With all the intelligent compassionate humans out there why don't we come up with a co-existing solution? Why is it when a human hates or fears a creature they immediately kill or torture it to death? Barbarism should have gone out with the stone age..but I guess its here to stay..
My opinion of course and I sleep well because I accept that I am just here to visit and do good not kill.

Re: “Tired of newcomers, Portlanders make anti-tourism video

Oh, boo hoo. Funny how I feel the same way about people from Oregon who show up in CA, driving 20mph under the speed limit, oblivious to the world around them. And let's be honest, Portlanders, you guys absolutely love to be seen standing in lines for hours on end. People in CA don't have time or patience for that. And it's the native oregonians who are the fussiest eaters in the world and you act all high and mighty about how vegan you are.

Re: “Tired of newcomers, Portlanders make anti-tourism video

Sounds like Oregon needs more brunch places. And sorry to tell y'all this but, time is passing and babies are being born. Everywhere has to many people. Sorry to tell y'all this but your the local douche bags that can't adapt to the change. Maybe y'all should run for city officials positions and be the bend you want to see. Instead of sitting on your couch shotgun in hand watching trailer park boys laughing at them mock your life. Lol, I'm just joking. I don't know your life i just think change and growth is a good thing. Hell, down here in Austin (my home town that's going through the same shit). We had a cross dressing hobo, run for mayor and he had some really good ideas. If you don't like what's going on in your city, get involved.

Re: “Clothing Wars

Use to be a fan of Under Armour. I will not be buying from then again. These companies can't claim exclusive use of a common word. You would have to be an idiot to confuse Under Armour with Cascade Armory. I guess Under Armor thinks their customers are stupid. Stop bullying the little guys with frivolous lawsuits and scare tactics. Not cool.

Rats are more intelligent than humans...they do not breed unless they know they can provide...humans have not even figured that out!

Re: “Tired of newcomers, Portlanders make anti-tourism video

I have lived in both Bend and Portland and have heard all the griping about newcomers for years. I have now chosen to make a life in the small town I was born and raised in and I could not be happier. I never lock my doors and don't need to worry about my kids running around outside. I am on city council and run a small business that I believe adds to the culture by creating a place for people to gather, eat, drink and listen to live music parallel to what is found in big cities. We can walk down any side street and quickly get into nature and can also be at the beach in 30 min or in Portland in an hour. All this and some of the best real estate prices in western Oregon and the best part is we welcome newcomers with open arms. Spread out and find a place that appreciates the part you can play in a real community.

Re: “Packing Off Pack Rats: Don't kill the rats, move 'em

What's the matter with you??? These are nothing but RATS, some of the nastiest disease carrying creatures on earth!!! You shouldn't live trap them and then move them because you only make them someone elses problem - take responsibility for your actions and kill them right away. When rats showed up in my yard I shot them with an air rifle and it was very effective - they didn't come back and I didn't push them off on other people to deal with. I also didn't waste any gas driving the rats across town to release them as you do - you're very irresponsible. Know why lepers from centuries ago used to lose their fingers and end up with deformed faces? Because the rats would gnaw on the sick people when they were asleep as the disease desensitized the nerves and they wouldn't wake up to stop the rats. Rats are cold blooded killers with no conscience and you are treating them like a stray dog - please stop with this nonsense and exterminate the rats and quit being so immature. All of nature is based on animals killing other animals and people shouldn't feel guilty for being part of this process.

Re: “Five Predictions for the New 10 Million Barrel

This article misses the point entirely. The issue is not the quality of the beer, or where it will be brewed and distributed, it is the simple fact that 10 Barrel built it's reputation and sold itself as a "local-for-locals" watering hole. Bendites have a history of supporting local, independent, non-corporate companies, especially when it comes to beer. Suddenly selling a local brew to Anhauser-Busch and expecting this town to shrug and keep drinking is ludicrous. 10 Barrel is finished. The tourists and Sunriver crowd might go unwittingly, but for Bend this place screams betrayal and I can't imagine any local with a sense of responsibility toward the shaping of Bend's spirit ever going here again. There are much better places in town, with better beer anyway.
