  • Teen Survives Scare on South Sister

    A 17-year-old hiker from Bend survived a close call on South Sister Tuesday afternoon after falling into a crevasse on the Lewis and Clark Glacier. According to the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Department the young man was hiking with a pair of juvenile companions and two adult chaperones when he strayed from the primary trail and slipped into a crevasse on the glacier.

  • Former C.O. Wilderness School Students File Abuse Suit

    Nine former students of a wilderness boarding school outside Prineville that was shut down by state authorities amid claims of abuse have filed suit against the institution, according to a Portland law firm that is representing the plaintiffs.
