Tyler and the gang at Sliver Moon have served up another winner with this smooth-drinking specialty ale. Micro Cosmos isn't a huge fan of the brown style, which tends to lack the personality of other ales. But Brown Eyes manages to inject some personality into this brew by going for a high gravity approach (7.5% alcohol) that makes liberal use of its signature ingredient, Black Strap molasses. The brewery is producing the Brown Eye's in a limited run (only 20 barrels worth). It's available on draft exclusively at the brewery's tasting room on Greenwood through the rest of the month and likely into March. Silver Moonies can also find the Brown Eyes in the 22 oz bottles at most of the local grocers and beer outlets. Owner Tyler Reichert said the brewery is planning to roll out more specialty beers in the coming months including a yet-to-be named 8.5 percent Imperial IPA that will launch in March and an Imperial Pilsner.
