Bend's Live Music in 2010: It's Gonna Be OK

There is hope for Bend's live music scene in 2010.

I've written spent some valuable cyber ink and real ink doing some written hand wringing about the future of live music here in Bend. For a while, things looked BTQB (Bleak To Quite Bleak), but now I have some hope.

It's not like the sort of rush we see in the summer, but there are some shows to look forward to in January.

Next week, there's something for the young and angry (at least musically angry) set with the hardcore sounds of Liferuiner, Never Heard the Shot and others at the Domino Room on 1/9. The Silver Moon has some solid indie folk from Unkle Nancy and the Family Jewels the night prior.

Then on Wednesday, January 13, Finn Riggins, the experimental indie poppers we've written about extensively this year, come over from Boise for a free show at McMenamins Old St. Francis School.

Also just announced is a return visit from Indiana-based acoustic punkers Rev. Peyton's Big Damn Band on Monday, January 18.

See, there's hope to get us to the big Gourds show at Winterfest.

Things are fixin' to be a lot better, man.
