In December, Dave Sheldon, a longtime Bendite who was incredibly active in the local community, was killed when a tree fell atop the van in which he was sleeping. He'd been over in Roseburg for work and decided to sleep in his vehicle, as he often did during these frequent trips, rather than making the drive back home.
Now, a month after Sheldon's death, KPOV (106.7FM), Bend's community radio station, is paying tribute to this deeply missed member of our community with a two-hour show tomorrow (Saturday) at 2 p.m.
The special program will feature conversations about Sheldon with representatives from the Central Oregon Environmental Center, the organization with which Sheldon was quite active. You'll also hear some music recorded by Sheldon, who was a talented musician, and commentary from his longtime friend and fellow musician, Joe Leonardi.
A memorial for Sheldon will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 5 at the First Presbyterian Church.
