Meet the Zombies... and Zombie Killers: An introduction to the blood-thirsty cast of Evil Dead: The Musical

evil dead the musical

Character name: Cheryl

Actor's name: Jenny MacKenzie

Other local productions: Witness for the Prosecution, Tony 'n Tina's Wedding, Couple Dating, Evil Dead the Musical

Favorite line in the play: Hmm...it's hard to think of ones without profanity, how about: "I'll get you Ash, I'm like a literal Hulk Hogan, I'll get you brother!"

Favorite movie in the Evil Dead franchise: The Evil Dead because that's when my character was born upon this world.

Advice for anyone being chased/attacked by demons/zombies: Zombies don't scare me - it's the trees ya gotta look out for. That's why I always carry a miniature flamethrower with me anytime I go out on the town.

Favorite crowd blood-splattering moment: Just a few nights ago, some woman screamed at the top of her lungs, "Arrrrgh! It got in my mouth!" My advice for next time would be to close your mouth when the blood starts spraying.

Character name: Linda

Actor's name: Lyryn Cate Nunez

Other local productions: Menopause the Musical, The Full Monty, Mrs. Bob Cratchit's, Wild Christmas Binge, Stop the World, I Want to Get Off, Polish Joke

Favorite line in the play: "How the f**k can this not be as bad as it looks?"

Favorite movie in the Evil Dead franchise: I've actually never watched all the movies - blasphemous, I know. I don't like scary movies!

Advice for anyone being chased/attacked by demons/zombies: Make friends now who are capable of protecting you in those sorts of situations.

Favorite crowd blood-splattering moment: When Linda gets stabbed in the ankle with the pencil and the blood shoots across the stage with incredible pressure. No one really expects it and the crowd always goes crazy.

Character name: Scott

Actor's name: Hector Ariceaga

Other local productions: Evil Dead: The Musical (2009 edition)

Favorite line in the play: Ash! F***ing listen to me and chop off her head. F**K!

Favorite movie in the Evil Dead franchise: Army of Darkness is by far my favorite. Time travel + Bruce Campbell = awesome.

Advice for anyone being chased/attacked by demons/zombies: Hide behind your friends. It's probably their fault you're in trouble anyway. Also, be sure to bring a hottie along, running for your life can make a guy mighty horny!

Favorite crowd blood-splattering moment: Two blood packs over the shoulder directly into the audience from a head full of buckshot courtesy of Ash's double barrel Remington.

Character name: Ash Williams

Actor's name: Todd Hanson

Other local productions: Dancing at Lughnessa, La Cage aux Folles, Stop the World I want to Get Off, Death Trap, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest and several other plays and short films.

Favorite line in the play: "This is my boomstick!"

Favorite movie in the Evil Dead franchise: Probably a toss up between Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness. Army has all of the great one-liners and sees Ash come to fruition as the hero, but E.D.2 has the fight with his evil hand.

Advice for anyone being chased/attacked by demons/zombies: Zombies are slow, so you can take your time. Don't run, don't panic. Just stay cool and shoot for the head. Candarian Demons are just nasty. You need to beat them down, then completely dismember them to have any real chance. I suggest getting a chainsaw.

Favorite crowd blood-splattering moment: I love it when they pull up the plastic when we're in the middle of a dialog scene just because we got within five feet of the seats.
