We're Not Old - We're Seasoned

Just a quick note to all the HR managers out there who are swamped of late with applications from a record number of unemployed people, like myself. I know you aren't supposed to ask an applicant's age and you really don't have to when you can look at their work history and see they've worked every day of their life since 1970.

But I'm afraid some unfair assumptions are being made about us more mature job seekers. Like we're "set in our ways" and you can't train us.

Not True. We're actually at the top our game, have seen it all, and know how to get the job done on time regardless of what it takes. Another misconception: We expect sixty thousand-dollar-a-year salaries. Some of us will work for a modest thirty four thousand dollars. Granted, you can hire some younger person for even less, but you don't get the wealth of experience us old farts carry around with us. Not to dis the younger people trying to get established, but at least give us a chance to talk with you in person.

If you don't, you could be missing out on some exceptional talent that really wants to work, and won't break the bank doing it.
