Vice Presidential Debate

While most everyone agrees the vice presidential debates are completely meaningless, they are a good reason to grab a beer and, perhaps, learn something new about the widows peak with legs and feisty bull dog who are in the running. A part of the continuing series “TV at the Tin Pan,” the event encourages heckling and heavy drinking. Evil Dead the Musical

An ancient evil force is accidentally awakened by a group of campers in a remote cabin in the woods and the result is mayhem, murder and music. Evil Dead the Musical is a hilarious adaptation of the low budget horror film starring Ash, a hardware store worker turned demon slayer. Do yourself a favor and don’t wear your Sunday best as spurting blood is as much a part of the show as the chainsaw Ash wields or his dismembered hand. 2nd Street Theater, 220 NE Lafayette Ave.
Fall Harvest Hoe-Down and Pig Roast

Celebrate all things fall with games, music and a harvest feast. Play horseshoes, make corncob dolls, carve pumpkins and press apples in the spirit of the season. The buffet style meal will include an entire roast pig, local roasted root vegetables, corn on the cob, local sides and desserts, as well as local wine and beer. The after dark New Moon Dance Party with local Celtic rockers Five Pint Mary will get cooking at around 9 p.m. The festival is a benefit for the Local Commerce Alliance and the Locavore Store. Meissner Nordic Fall Fete and Fundraiser

Support Meissner Nordic and the work they do grooming and maintaining over 40 kilometers of cross-country trails in Central Oregon by attending the Meissner Nordic Fall Fete and Fundraiser. The event features a raffle with over $3,500 in prizes, food, beer and music by Pitchfork Revolution. Alternative hip-hop duo Zion I uphold the Bay area’s tradition of top-notch rap music. After 15 years on the scene, the guys are best known for producer DJ AmpLive’s futuristic production techniques, mixing live instrumentation and samples, and MC Zumbi’s socially conscious lyrics. Singer-songwriter and former Bend local, Sara Jackson-Holman is a classically trained pianist who has transformed her formal roots into pop gold. Incorporating strings, synthesizers, and rich harmonies, her music is entrancing and her catchy choruses will stay stuck in your head for hours after her smoky alto fades away. Holman’s music has been featured in the background of dramatic montages on ABC’s Castle, CW’s The Ringer and MTV’s Chelsea Settles so you might even recognize a tune or two. Free. Ignite Bend

Think of it as a poetry slam for Power Point people. Ignite Bend mashes up the traditional slideshow presentation with improvisational entertainment, wraps it all up in a blanket of community education and serves it up with a dose of humor and insight. Next week’s event marks the ninth incarnation of the local Ignite series and is highlighted by performances from 10 local speakers who will cover everything from motherhood to skydiving. The party is a benefit in support of measure 9-86, which moves to complete the Deschutes River Trail and make safe the Colorado Spillway.
