Oregon Brewers Festival Starts Today, Runs Through Sunday

Pour me another.
  • Pour me another.

The 26th annualOregon Brewers Festival starts today at Portland Waterfront Park(noon-9 pm most days) and runs through Sunday, July 28. Entrance is FREE and a 12.8-ounce tasting glass is $7. And this year no shitty plastic cups, which make delicious beer taste like a toy store. Glass only, this year. One dollar (or "token") gets beer enthusiasts a 3-ounce pour, $4 is enough for a full beer. Also, don't get mired in long lines for run-of-the-mill IPAs when you could be in the Buzz Tent, which features barrel-aged beers, sours and other specialty brews (the lines are often much shorter, too).

No chance of getting bored, either with 84 different beers from across the country. I tried to pull out some favorites for y'all, but the list was too overwhelming. After I recovered I can offer this advice: check the beers list, then make an effort to try these special brews: Great Divide's "Colette Farmhouse Saison"; Old Market Pub & Brewery's "Dilution of Grandeur"; Pfriem Family Brewers's "Wit"; Firestone Walker Brewing Co.'s "Unfiltered Black Rye IPA."

There. That should get you started.
