The last weekend of each month offers an abundance of art and live music in Central Oregon, and this weekend is no different. On Friday, August 28, the Sisters Arts Association celebrates art and live music as part of its Fourth Friday Art Stroll in downtown Sisters. Sisters Galleries will have featured artist receptions, art on display, live music, and light libations beginning at 4 pm and going until 7pm (or later).
Established earlier this year in conjunction with Oregon Travel Experience's recognition of the Hood Avenue Arts District, the Sisters Arts Association give a voice to the wide range of arts in Sisters, including galleries, artists, creative studios, production companies and arts education. The Sisters Arts Association is a creative community dedicated to the promotion of the arts as an essential part of the culture and economy of Sisters. Head over to Sisters every fourth Friday for a delightful evening of art, refreshments, live music, and educational discussions on art process and theory.
In Bend, on Saturday, August 29, The Old Ironworks is hosting its Last Saturday event, with activities starting at 2 pm. Last Saturday is a monthly celebration of local art and music in Bend's thriving arts district on Scott Street, behind Sparrow Bakery.
At this month's Last Saturday, the Cindercone Clay Center will kick things off with its Throw-a-Thon to benefit Neighbor Impact's Empty Bowls fundraiser. Come watch these potters in action while listening to live music throughout the day, including Sweet Bonnie Gayle, Corner Gospel Explosion, All You All, and more. The Cindercone Clay Center has supported Empty Bowls for the past 13 years with throwing events such as the Pottery Games. This will be its inaugural Throw-a-Thon.
Also in the Old Ironworks, Stuart's of Bend handmade jewelry will be celebrating its 5th anniversary, with a live DJ, new pieces and a sale. Finally, The Workhouse will be exhibiting the artwork of the talented local artist, Sheila Dunn.
