Voting in Oregon—Register to Vote by Tomorrow!

Oregon’s turn to vote is almost here and luckily for us Oregon has one of the most convenient voting systems in the country—vote-by-mail. Properly registered voters receive a ballot two to three weeks before the election, giving individuals time to research candidates and issues. The key phrase in that sentence is properly registered.

Ballots will be making their way to mailboxes Wednesday, April 26. Therefore, Oregonians have until 11:59 pm on Tuesday, April 25 to update voter registration or register for the first time. Update your registration if you’ve moved, changed your name or your mailing address since the last time you voted.

Another reason to update your voter registration is to select or change a political party. Both major political parties use the Primary Election to nominate their party candidates for the November General Election. Since the Democratic Party in Oregon uses a “closed system” voters will only be able to vote for a Democratic candidate if they are registered as Democratic. This is only one example of the importance of updating voter registration—so you can vote for who you want when the time comes around.

Registering is incredibly easy and takes about five minutes!

Here’s the link. Get out and vote!

“Nobody will ever deprive the American people of the right to vote except the American people themselves and the only way they could do this is by not voting.”
— Franklin D. Roosevelt, 32nd President of the United States
