School District Given $1.1 Million Grant

Money earmarked for engineering evaluations and snow removal reimbursement

After last year’s snowpocalypse caved in roofs and caused area schools to close for snow removal, Senators Ron Wyden and Jeff Merkley went to bat for the Bend-La Pine school district.

The school district will receive more than $1 million in Federal Emergency Management Agency money to reimburse costs of last January’s snow removal, and for engineering evaluations.

“These much-needed funds will help the Bnd-La Pine School District recover from serious damage caused by last winter’s snowstorms,” Merkley said in a press release.

“Ensuring students, teachers and staff are in a safe setting always is a top priority,” Wyden said in the same release.

Update: Redmond School District also received a $464,648 FEMA grant for reimbursement costs from last year's snow removal.
