I was somewhat surprised when I found out after moving here that the Bend public compost program is limited to yard waste . Many other small cities throughout the west offer much more robust compost pick up options . Some in fact make it mandatory . Seems like a no brainer if we are looking for ways to extend the shelf life of our local landfill .
