First of all the tree code is not much different.
The proposed transportation tax should not be decided upon by the city but it should go to a vote for the public to decide upon. The city has shown no efforts in providing other solutions. Visitors should being paying this tax as they have major impact on our community as well as people living in Bend but are in county jurisdiction as they also use the roads. This should go for a vote on the ballot. Let the community decide Melanie. And why are we giving developers a 10.6 million tax deferment? This should not be an issue in the middle of construction.. why are developers running this city? Houseless is still a big issue that the city has only been band-aiding and there has been no real solution, like a proper high barrier facility with medical, mental and addiction services with social wrap around services. I voted for these people and super disappointed in my votes. They are politicians and rarely listen to the community.

Well this is disappointing to read. I thought for sure with Karon J on this committee we would have a strong tree code to help preserve our landscape and wildlife habitats.. However, this news is not surprising in regards to the City of Bend and how dysfunctional it is and where their priorities seem to be. It’s like the same situation when they created the “houseless committee” and if you didn’t agree with their agenda as a committee member, you were gone. Then they turned their houseless survey into an “educational piece” because the survey results from the public were not inline with their agenda. It seems these committees they create are a waste of time and energy and the bottom line is the developers own this city and the city officials who are supposed to be stewards of the city.

Thank you Mr. Waites for being a leader in our community. We need more black leaders like yourself. Have you considered running for a Bend La Pine School Board position? This would be a wonderful way for you to help create change in our education system. Change starts with our children. I for one would love to see more POC in leadership roles where we can come together and create change that will benefit everyone.

Thank you Marcus LeGrand. Please let me know how I can help. We are currently forming a group here in Bend to learn about racism, discuss it and we all want to help but we need guidance. I created a post on Nextdoor and got a wonderful response and I would like to connect with you. Thank you for your speech. Nicole Moore Perullo

Why are commenters bringing politics and rude comments into a public health and safety issue. It portrays you to be very ignorant. This is a very valid health concern if you do your research. There are 5G summits being held with leaders around the world discussing this very thing. I commend Ms. Rose for standing up for what she understands to be a public health and safety concern. At least someone in our community is concerned. Unfortunately the city of Bend will have financial gains to be had with that Verizon Cell tower and they are supposed to be representing and protecting our city and it's residents and they are not listening.

    Re: “Raising the Bar
I actually saw this same scene but on Friday night which was much more crowded at the River Pig Saloon on my way to the grocery store Market of Choice. This is insane people.....wear your masks and social distance! Have respect for the community at large. This does not look like a good example of a phase I roll out. I hope this shut this situation down.
