Antonio Sanchez & Migration Promoted

When: Sat., March 23, 7:30 p.m. 2019
Price: $22-$42

Virtuoso drummer, composer, and five-time Grammy winner debuts with his band fresh off the release of their new album, Lines in the Sand. Antonio has worked with Pat Metheny, Chick Corea, and composed the original film score for the film Birdman which earned him a Golden Globe nomination and Critics Choice Movie Award for Best Score.

Migration includes John Escreet on piano, Fender Rhodes and Prophet Synthesizer; Matt Brewer on acoustic and electric bass; Thana Alexa on vocals and effects; Chase Baird on tenor saxophone and EWI. Perhaps not “all politics is personal,” but for Mexican-born and raised Sanchez, a naturalized American citizen since 2016, the plight of immigrants and the enforcement of border policies is deeply personal. “I feel so blessed and so thankful for what I've achieved in the United States,” says Sanchez. “But at the same time, I feel completely repulsed by what the United States is doing to immigrants — especially to people coming from the South. So whenever and wherever I'm performing, I'm speaking out, trying to make sense of what is going on.”
