Two Bros, two beers. There was a time when A.M. Interstate was the most talked about band in Central Oregon. Chatter of the band's appearances at CMJ and South by Southwest rolled through the local music community. The buzz was loud for this Redmond-based true-as-blue-jeans-rock band, and while the volume on that buzz has decreased around these parts, A.M. Interstate has hardly disappeared.

In fact, after signing to Poison Tree Records, the band, fronted by brothers Cy and Seth Erickson and their classically rock and roll looks, released Kimono Dragon, a powerful and emotive full-length record that showcased the band's songwriting prowess and attention to rock history. In fact, the brothers Erickson have a good argument for having been slightly ahead of the folk rock revival that we're currently experiencing with hit records by bands like Fleet Foxes and Blitzen Trapper. Kimono Dragon, like the albums of the aforementioned Northwest folk acts, sometimes sounds like it could pass as having been plucked from a record collection in 1970.

While folky tones helped the band's last album, that's not to say that A.M. Interstate can't dish out the rock when they want to - because they certainly can, and likely will on the Silver Moon stage Friday night. It should be a nice chance to see them before they jet off to gigs in places like Phoenix and Chicago in hopes of spreading that buzz we were talking about.

A.M. Interstate
8pm Friday, January 23. Silver Moon Brewing Co. 24 NW Greenwood Ave. $5.
