Bend Roots Revival: Friday in Review, Saturday Preview

Review and videos from day one of the Bend Roots Revival.

The Bend Roots Revival is in full swing at the Century Center (if you're still having trouble finding it, just turn off of Century at the new US Bank) and last night was a hell of a coming out party for the fest's new venue.

By the time Moon Mountain Ramblers hit the BIGS Stage around 8pm, the place was flooded with local music fans (maybe double of any prior Roots fest) who saw what I thought was the best Ramblers set in a very long while.

Another hit of Friday was Emma Hill and Her Gentlemen Callers, the Portland-based folksters who played an early evening set full of excellent vocals and snapy songs.

Today is likely the high point of the festival, including a string of shows with some of Bend's most dynamic acts including The Autonomics (6pm), Mosley Wotta (8pm) and then the late night Ruins of Ooah (9:45pm)/Empty Space Orchestra (11pm) back-to-back sonic explosion inside the new -- and downright impressive -- Century Center ballroom.

The festival is already underway and goes all day. It's free and all ages! Here's some video from yesterday.
