Central Oregon Geoscience Society 2019 Speaker Series - A New Look at “Old” Tuffs from Newberry Volcano - Jeff Templeton, Western Oregon University

Ash-flow tuffs at Newberry Volcano shed light on the earliest caldera-forming eruption, and reveal a dynamic scenario of basalt and rhyolite mixing to yield dacitic tuffs. These tuffs also indicate both Cascadia subduction and High Lava Plains volcanism have influenced silicic magmatism at Newberry. Doors open 5:30, presentation at 7:00.
