Trashed: No Place for Waste

Trashed is a documentary looking at risks to humanity's food chain through pollution of air, sea and land by the amount of garbage we produce daily. It is a very thought-provoking documentary that examines ways to fix the problem instead of creating alarmist doom and gloom scenarios through fear mongering and straw man arguments. Jeremy Irons is the face of the film and his calming presence and focus makes Trashed feel like something we have never seen before, even if the subject matter has been repurposed for a dozen different documentaries by this point. Although, the footage of beautiful places almost destroyed by pollution is heartbreaking and harrowing in equal turns. Celebrate the New Year by watching this documentary and figuring out personal solutions to make a little less waste. Or just get drunk. Either way.

6:30 pm. Tuesday, Jan. 6. First Presbyterian Church. 230 NE 9th St. Free.
