Monty Python Live (Mostly): One Down, Five to Go

Aside from the gone too soon Graham Chapman, most of the crew from Monty Python are still alive and kicking. Join Eric Idle, Terry Gilliam, John Cleese, Michael Palin and Terry Jones as they come together in what they're calling their very last live reunion.

Tickets for the opening night of the reunion show (held in London's O2 Arena) sold out in 43 seconds with the final performance being shown (mostly) live in Regal Cinemas across the country.

The set list is supposed to include reenactments of their favorite skits, clips from their shows and films and elaborate dance numbers. It's hard to imagine a better use for 3 hours of time.

Sun, July 20, 11:30 am. Old Mill Stadium 16

The Road Uphill

Andy Schleck has had one of the more, um...tumultuous cycling careers of the last few years. After an impressive second place finish in the 2010 Tour de France, he is followed by a documentary crew as the weight of an entire (small) nation (Luxemburg) rests on his handlebars. Along with his brother, Andy Schleck is championed as a would-be winner for the 2011 Tour de France, which this film follows. Although the outcome is already known, the film is remarkably tense and gripping, providing more about the inner emotional landscape of a racer and teammate/brother loyalty than superficial concerns about whether he'll take the yellow jersey. Somewhat underrated as a cycling film and overshadowed by other recent films (about that other Tour de France rider), The Road Uphill deserves more recognition as one of the truly important films about cycling—and, even broader, athletic competition. This screening is a fundraiser for the Central Oregon Trail Alliance; door prizes from Sunnyside Sports and Pine Mountain Sports.

Thurs, July 17, 9 pm. McMenamin Old Francis, 700 NW Bond.
