Fish On! Kids Fishing Day in Bend May 21

The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife is sponsoring a series of statewide free fishing events for kids and Bend's Pine Nursery Pond will host one of those events May 21.  Anglers 11 and under can fish for free.  Those 12-17 will need a youth license to participate.  Licenses will not be sold at the event.

ODFW will loan out fishing rods, reels, tackle, and some bait on a first-come, first-serve basis between 9 am and 1 pm.  Pine Nursery Pond will be stocked with legal-and trophy sized rainbow trout prior to the event.  ODFW will also be on hand to assist youngsters with tips and ideas.

Pine Nursery Pond is located in northeast Bend between Purcell, Deschutes Market and Yeoman Road.  From Hwy 97, take the Empire Blvd exit, head east on Empire Blvd 1.5 miles, turn left on Purcell, turn right on Yeoman, then take the first right that leads into the park.  A parking lot on the left leads to the pond.
