It had been quite a while since I'd ventured up to Northwest Crossing looking for something sweet to eat. There was Sage Cafe with pastries galore, fresh baked rice krispie treats and decadent brownies, and then there was Riley's Market with locally baked cookies and--ooh!--frozen yogurt.
A welcome change from the clastrophobia I've experienced when entering Cuppa Yo, mobbed end to end by parents, teenagers, babies in strollers and sugar-high children running loose, Riley's was calm, well-cared for and clean (maybe a little too clean, doesn't anyone but me know about this frozen yogurt spot?).
Riley's Market actually has, and has had for a long time, two frozen yogurt machines serving four flavors with two additional options to twist them. Although slightly less limitless, Riley's Market also offers a self-serve toppings bar with fresh and dry items like chocolate chips, berries, granola and coconut. Serving myself is always fun because I can customize my frozen yogurt to my own taste which is exactly what I did.
Nothing like a fresh cup of frozen yogurt on a hot summer day! Especially since it won't be available much longer. Due to economic constraints and a quiet location in Northwest Crossing,Riley's Market is scheduled to close at the end of July 2010 after opening in 2007. Riley's will undoubtedly be missed!
