With the news this past week of how to fix the deficit and get the U.S. back in the black, I'm sure everyone is going to have some ideas of what they think will work best. So here's mine. Since we had a surplus 10 years ago before Bush, Cheney and Rove weaseled their way into power, perhaps their ill-gotten fortunes could be a start to paying down the debt.
Especially since Bush has seemed to lift other writers' book sections into his 'memoir.' Does he never stop ripping us off? And then, instead of further going after the middle class with freezing Social Security cost-of-living increases (or considering stopping it!!) and eliminating tax deductions for mortgages, among other cuts, how about cutting the salaries and perks of every elected senator and congressman down to minimum wage so they really understand what it's like to live in the real world. They want so badly to represent their constituents, they should be on the same level as us and pay for their health
insurance out of that. I could go on and on and on, but this is enough to start with. Think about it.
