Hellbound Glory and Johnny Outlaw and the Johnson Creek Stranglers

If you’re from Reno Nevada and your parents name you Leroy Virgil there’s a good chance you’ll grow up to front a kick ass country western band. And that’s just what Leroy did. Hellbound Glory defies the country western label and doesn’t do justice to the raw, cranking sound produced by this quartet. New sub-genres like Outlaw, Gutterbilly, Thrashicana, Punkabilly, Scumbag and Truckerpunk had to be invented to describe their music and vibe and to distance themselves from the mainstream, pop-laden country music scene. Hellbound Glory performs hard drivin’, foot stompin’ songs about real issues like unemployment, alcoholism and prescription drug abuse. Why Take the Pain (when I can take pain pills?) and Another Bender Might Break Me will make you think, crave a shot of whiskey and try to figure out a way to mosh and two step at the same time. Tickets are $7 on bendticket.com and $8 at the door.
