On Friday, Oct. 5, the Homeless Leadership Coalition is hosting a candidate forum to address homelessness and housing in Central Oregon.

Invitations were sent out to gubernatorial, U.S. Representative, Oregon Senate District 30, all Oregon House and Deschutes County Commissioner candidates. According to the HLC, the purpose of the forum is to give candidates an opportunity to share their position or plan for addressing the issue of homelessness and affordable housing in Central Oregon.

The forum runs from 8 am to 9:30 am at the Bend Elks Lodge at 63120 Boyd Acres Rd. The forum is free and open to the public. For more information, visit cohomeless.org or call George Meyers, HLC coordinator at 612-419-6408. Interested parties can also email George at hlc@gmars.com.

The HLC is a collaboration of community partners in Crook, Jefferson and Deschutes counties engaging the community through education, advocacy, planning, prioritization and accountability for services to people experiencing homelessness.

The HLC is made up of more than 40 organizations and individuals from Central Oregon counties, including shelter providers, public schools, public health, emergency services, veterans outreach, faith communities, public safety, mental health, housing services, public services, private employers, people who’ve lived homeless and others.
