Joaquin Phoenix joins Emma Stone and Parker Posey in Woody Allen's 50th film in around 50 years. Phoenix plays a philosophy professor who gets embroiled in a mystery that starts to give his life purpose. It's Allen's darkest film since Match Point while also being his most philosophical one since Crimes and Misdemeanors. If you're a fan of his work you will love it, but don't expect the film to win him any new fans.
