It's That Time of the Year Again!

Juniper Swim and Fitness Center pool cover coming off this week

Woo hoo! Swimmers and sun-tanners rejoice. Workers are removing the cover over the 50-meter pool at Juniper Swim and Fitness Center this week.

The process takes six to eight employees to complete, as the cover is more than 50,000 square feet of tent material. While the process can be taxing, the end result is something all can find joy in.

"Removing the pool cover is a lot of work, but it's worth it every summer to see all the smiles in the pool," said facilities specialist Shawn Clark, who has been removing the cover since 2000, in a release.

According to Bend Park and Recreation District, the cover should be fully removed by the end of the week—which also happens to be a week with some rare rain in the forecast....

Some lap and swimming schedules may be altered during the time of cover removal but the public can find any changes online here.

Some more good news? As long as the weather cooperates, the JSFC outdoor activity pool will also be open—weekends only—starting May 25. Summer is officially almost here!
