Second place winner for Best Dinner in Redmond in our Best Of readers' poll for 2017. The fruition of owner Pablo Pena’s dream, Madaline’s (named after his daughter) features an eclectic menu of hearty recipes gleaned his rich and varied culinary experiences. While the emphasis is certainly Mexican, Italian influences can be found in the many pasta dishes, Thai spices distinguish dishes such as the coconut shrimp, and steakhouse standards can satisfy good ol’ fashioned cravings for carne. Pena frequently revisits his childhood home in Mexico, and brings back new ideas from his mother’s traditional cooking. Particularly good is the signature item, prawns specially prepared with fresh mushrooms, onions, and green peppers, served on a bed of rice with melted Monterey Jack and a special mild sauce. Also outstanding is a seafood chimichanga, which consists of prawns, crab, sautéed veggies and sour cream served in a fried flour tortilla and covered with an absolutely delicious creamy sauce.
