Music of India with The Mysore Brothers

Evvnt
Enjoy some of India’s finest musicians, The Mysore Violin Brothers and their touring ensemble with accompanying percussionists. These musicians are absolute masters of their art of improvisation and sound vibration. The Indian classical Ragas (melodies) and Rhythms truly transport the listener to another realm, a divine place of meditation and beauty. This is the exhilarating music of the heart. We are honored to share these four Maestros who play on an International stages and tours in this special very first Montana appearance.Nagaraj and Manjunath are brothers who have been playing the violin their entire lives, and were taught at home by their father who was also a well-known violinist in India. They have an almost telepathic synchronicity with each other when they play. The spontaneous improvisations are like sound poems created and then spoken through the music between them. The drummers, Rajarao and Giridhar Udupa, also India renowned, international touring artists… play the traditional South Indian percussion instruments, the Mridangam-- a barrel shaped like drum with different pitches, and a “clay pot” called the Ghatam.  Their skill and mathematics of rhythm intricacies are far beyond what we know in western music…everyone in the ensemble joins in to the improvisational conversation with call and response passages between them. The final result takes its listeners on a cultural, transcendent journey to that time and space where the world’s finest reside. As Indian music is played as a meditation and a spiritual path, these celestial Artists truly transport listeners to a divine state of being, the vibrations are pure and loving, and this music will transform and heal.We hope you will join us for this special evening of music, community and sound healing. Tickets are available in advance for $20, or $25 at the door the evening of the show. Questions - Contact Clare at [email protected] or text 541-350-8448
