Nathan Boddie

City Council Pos. 5 (CANDIDATE)

screen_shot_2014-09-17_at_9.39.36_am.png

AGE: 42

OCCUPATION: Physician and hospitalist at St. Charles Health System

PARTY: Democrat

YEARS IN BEND: 6

PAST YEAR COUNCIL MEETING ATTENDANCE: 5-6 in person (more online)

PREVIOUSLY PLAYED FOR: Sewer Infrastructure Advisory Group, Oregon Crisis Care Guidelines drafting committee

TOP THREE GOALS:

1) Stop drastic utility rate hikes

2) Decrease taxes, permitting fees, and other construction/business operating costs

3) Maintain the safety and integrity of our drinking water

ON MIRROR POND: "I favor a hybrid approach working with the current owners to live up to their financial responsibility and leaving Mirror Pond at about the same water level but perhaps with even more areas to float and enjoy."

ON URBAN GROWTH BOUNDARY: "Urban growth expansion has been mishandled by my opponent resulting in the State of Oregon rejecting the proposed expansion. As we revisit the plan, I will make sure we grow intelligently to enhance our economy and prosperity. We will need to avoid hurting property values and causing traffic congestion."

ON VACATION RENTALS: "While we shouldn't dictate what someone can do with their property, we need to ensure the livability of our community and a mix of housing options. I favor some form of unrestricted use of a primary residence while limiting the number of secondary units in a neighborhood used for vacation rentals or requiring a period of long-term rental each year."

BEST OF BEND: Outstanding quality of life and opportunities to prosper

WORST OF BEND: Risk of hurting those opportunities and degrading our quality of life

FAVORITE MUSIC: Uncle Tupelo

SIMPSON'S ALTER EGO: Snowball II

VOTE NATHAN BECAUSE: "My leadership experience and ability to fix the problems created by my opponent make me the best choice. I will represent the interests of residents and businesses rather than those of city officials. I will save taxpayer money for a healthy, livable, prosperous Bend."
