Underlying the vast sagebrush and grassland expanses of the Great Basin and the Columbia Plateau is a history of land use that is often forgotten. But even 50-100 years later, the legacies of abandoned agricultural development and range management are still affecting the vegetation, soils, hydrology and wildlife across these landscapes.
