New Music: Early release of debut from Indians

Late last year I saw Midwest band Other Lives for the third time in less than a year. Yes— they're that good. But the real treat this time was getting to see Dane Søren Løkke Juul who records as Indians open the show.

Juul crafts a sound built on flowing synth and acoustic guitar— ambient electro-folk if you will. His set at that Wonder Ballroom show was mesmerizing and though completely solo, sounded full and sturdy. At the time, his debut album Somewhere Else was of the yet-to-be-released kind, but he had a limited pressing on white vinyl available which I quickly snatched up as I exited the venue.

Now, just three weeks away from an official release, Somewhere Else is finally available to listen to by streaming it below courtesy of KEXP in Seattle. Look to buy it on Jan. 29.
