This week I've been slammed with announcements of new shows heading into Bend in the weeks and months to come. And this is super cool.
Just today, for instance, I learned that The Devil Makes Three will be bringing their throwback Americana to the Domino Room on May 8. Also, the Reverend Horton Heat is coming back on September 8 to the Domino, which is a ways out, but still worth noting.
A little closer on your calendar is a gig that I'm getting pretty pumped for, and that's an appearance by The Baseball Project at the Silver Moon on April 7. The Baseball Project is an all-star band of sorts made up of REM's Peter Buck, Steve Wynn (The Dream Syndicate), Scott McCaughey (The Minus 5, Fresh Young Fellows) and Linda Pitmon (The Miracle 3). The band's first album, Volume 1: Frozen Ropes & Dying Quails, was an excellent mix of baseball history and excellent rock tunes, and was one of my personal favorites of 2008.
Now, the Baseball Project is back with Volume 2 -- which I just got my hands on -- is equally as solid.
