Re: “Letters to the Editor

Eddie Kinnamon:

It works like this - the City of Bend charges you money for simply living in the city. Think of it like a "privilege tax". The city will take your money and use it to provide services for new development. Later, when it's time to actually provide similar services to your neighborhood, they'll come back and assess you further charges. Just look to the recent sewer connection issue in SE Bend for an example of how that works.

And don't forget in some people's mind you're a freeloader and a lowlife if you object to all these connection charges and fees for phantom services.
But ain't life in Nuevo Bend just grand?...

Re: “Vote Jamie McLeod-Skinner for U.S. Rep., 2nd District

And now the 7 day clock is started for McLeod-Skinner supporters to clean up the carpet bombing of campaign signs they've littered our community with:

James MacAfee -

Thanks for chiming in with the condescending Fudd perspective. It definitely confirms that we do indeed need to be concerned about our Second Amendment rights with McLeod-Skinner having the backing of supporters such as yourself.

Re: “Vote Jamie McLeod-Skinner for U.S. Rep., 2nd District

This sounds like a lot of Walden bashing covered by a thin veneer astroturf.

And the "McLeod-Skinner takes a balanced approach to issues including gun control..." part is a true laugh out loud line. Only someone that endeavors to completely abolish the Second Amendment would consider those measures "balanced".

Re: “Letters to the Editor

Tracy, you identified the source of the problem yourself: "Young couples walk the streets with newborns in carriages, and perhaps another child or two alongside them."

Increasing population growth, the demand for resources, energy, housing, environmental degradation and waste streams all have one thing in common - it all starts with more babies. Voting won't fix it.

Re: “In the runup to the next election, don't let "moderates" off the hook

I find this appeal to "moderates" almost laughable in light of recent events and coverage in the Source Weekly. Just last week one opinion led with the shrill and alarmist heading "Confronting the Death Cult". It's clearly disingenuous to call out the extremist right while giving the extremist left kid glove treatment. Those of us in the middle are sick of the BS from both party extremes but it's the Democratic side that's doing the most to alienate moderates right now.

Re: “Bang Bang

Jared,
Congratulations on working a dig at the NRA into your movie review. Of course the NRA didn't fund, produce or distribute Death Wish - it came from Hollywood. You know, those same fine folks that were for so long pals with Harvey Weinstein.

So whose "fever dream" is this really?
