*Update: Klamath County Sheriff's Office reports that the missing California pair was located and rescued from a remote area of Siskiyou County, Calif.
In a case that bears an eery familiarity to the nationally publicized plight of the Kim in family in 2006, a man and woman from California are thought to be lost in the Siskiyous after apparently choosing a dangerous route through the snowbound Southern Oregon mountains.
The Klamath County Sheriff's office said David Martin, 46 and Georgie Short, 65, were traveling through northern California and possibly into Oregon when they became stuck on a remote logging road and lost cell phone contact between Tulelake, Calif and I-5 in Oregon. The pair was traveling in a white 1995 pick-up truck and was scene near Alturas Feb. 17. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Klamath County Sheriff's Office, Phone: (541) 810-1710
Bay area engineer James Kim died in November 2006 after he, his wife and their young family got stuck on a logging road in the Oregon coastal range after missing a turnoff on the way to Gold Beach on the Oregon coast. Kim died of hypothermia after deciding to go for help after spending ten nights stranded with the family sleeping in the car and huddling for warmth.
