Forge a knife you will be proud to own. Each student will learn basic blacksmithing operation, skills, techniques and knowledge to replicate what we do in the labor-intensive workshop and make a utility knife out of metal scraps. The blade will be hardened and tempered but not polished to a high sheen.
Additionally, each student will be passing certification requirement for using our Forge Station. The differences from the 4-week Basic Bladesmithing Course are: 1) less tapering, 2) less finishing, 3) no handle.
The more knowledge you have of blacksmithing the better your project will turn out, but, no prior experience is required. However, keep in mind it takes some muscle. Cotton and wool clothing, no synthetic fabrics, should be worn. Wear closed-toe shoes. Bring refillable water bottle and mask.
Instructors will encourage, demonstrate, and coach you, while telling both the history of knifemaking and bad jokes - you'll come away with a sharp and useful knife of your own creation!
