Sandhill Crane film
SANDHILL CRANES—With a red crown and a wingspan like a pterodactyl, sandhill cranes are majestic birds. The Jane Goodall of water fowl, Gary Ivey has created a remarkable nature film, "Raising Kid Colt—A Story of a Young Sandhill Crane," that takes a front-row seat for the parenting and chick-raising behavior of one particular bird. 6:30 pm. We Have Spoken: Voices from Native America
CHOIR— The Central Oregon Mastersingers and the Central Oregon Symphony are drawn together to honor words spoken by Native Americans. Local composer and educator Clyde Thompson has composed this cantata, which is set to feature six area vocal soloists, and pulls stories from between the 15th and 20th centuries. 7:30 pm. FILM—What is so remarkable about Philip Seymour Hoffman's Oscar-winning performance as Truman Capote in the 2005 film Capote is how the massive actor seemingly shrinks in size and stature to the slight and fey size of the New York writer. PUNK—If Joan Jett grew up in Baltimore and not on the west coast, she'd have been Lisa Doll. Doll's two-minute songs are all thwarted romance and updated bubble gum pop, delivered with a punky sneer.
