Believe it or not, this is the sixth installment of Bend's take on the world-popular Ignite events, which place a presenter on the stage for five minutes, armed only with a microphone and a Power Point presentation of their choosing. Spoken Word Poet Buddy Wakefield

With the art of spoken word poetry taking hold here in Central Oregon, it's no surprise that we're getting one of the best in the business, Buddy Wakefield, is back in town to spill some verbal gymnastics. Wakefield, if you didn't know, is a two-time slam champion and will be hilarious and poetic as ever at this free show. 7pm Thursday, Feb 10. Hitchcock Auditorium, COCC, 2600 NW College Way. Free.
Conspirator, Break Science

This is another great last-minute show that we heard about late last week, and features two awesome live electronica acts. There's Conspirator, a NYC-based live trance act that features two members of the jam-electro kings, The Disco Biscuits. Also on the bill is Break Science, a super-spacey duo featuring the drum wizardry of Adam Deitch and the keyboard and producing talents of Borahm Lee. OK, chances are, that won't be a question at the sixth-annual Trivia Bee, which benefits the Bend LaPine Schools, but if it is, you're well equipped. The Cascades Theatrical Company is bringing to life one of Dickens' most well-known stories with this presentation of Oliver! In case you skipped a grade or something and missed out on this one, the story tells of an innocent and lovable orphan boy who asked for more. Del The Funky Homosapien

This high-ranking member of the indie hip-hop hierarch is making a return appearance here in Bend and is bringing along a nice slate of openers, including Bukue One, Serendipity Project, Attribute and Tony G. We had a chance to spin Del's latest disc, It Ain't Illegal Yet, this week and it's clear that he's still on the top of his game after two full decades in the rap game. And being the nice guy that he is, Del is coming out into the crowd early at 8pm for a meet and greet. Be there and shake hands with this fine man.

Helmed by the nephew of guitar great Ali Farka Toure, Ibrahim Kelly, this band plays a blend of tunes that span the African content while also include elements of funk, electronic music and jazz. WinterFringe

WinterFest is kicking off a day early this year with a slate of events taking place downtown, including a performance by the fire dancers and jugglers of Fire Flyte. But then the party moves to the Century Center for a big show featuring two local music heavy weights with Mosley Wotta and Larry and His Flask. The latter will be one of our last chances to see these native sons before they head out on another big national tour. Begins downtown at 7pm and is free. Century Center concert is 21 and up, kicks off at 9pm and requires a WinterFest button for entrance.

This film made some waves at last year's BendFilm Festival and now the organization is screening the film again.
