If you live in Bend, you're probably starved to see some live basketball, which is why you should head up to the fairgrounds where the Central Oregon Hotshots - our very own International Basketball League team - will be playing a pair of games this weekend. With an abbreviated shot clock and an emphasis on up-tempo play, IBL games typically feature outrageously high scores, with the Hotshots averaging more than 120 points a game so far - so yeah, you get to see the ball fall through hoop with intense frequency. 7:15pm both nights, Hooker Creek Events Center, 3800 SW Airport Way, Redmond.

BendFilm has revived its Indie Reels series and for May the festival is showing Brian, which won the Audience Award at the 2009 event. The film follows Brian, a Bend native who spent 16 years battling cancer before eventually passing away, but never let the illness get in the way of his love of cycling. It's difficult to separate the term "Scottish fiddle" from Alasdair Fraser, so we won't even try, but we will let you know about his Tower Theatre show next week in which he's joined by cello wunderkind Natalie Haas.
