Our pick's for what to do in Central Oregon the week of 6/30 - 7/8, including the 4th of July!

Last Band Standing Finals

thursday 1

After a three-month marathon of preliminary rounds, the finals of Last Band Standing have finally arrived. Empty Space Orchestra, Hot Tea Cold, KleverKill and Mosley Wotta go head to head to see who will win the $30,000 bundle of prizes, which includes a touring van. See the Sound section for a preview of the event. Boondocks Bar and Grill, 70 NW Newport Ave.

Show Us Your Spokes: Eric Tollefson & the World's Greatest Lovers

friday 2

Now that everyone is confident that it's OK to go outside, we expect a healthy crowd at the second installment of Show Us Your Spokes, which features singer-songwriter and Conan O'Brien look-alike Eric Tollefson, backed by his thunderous band, The World's Greatest Lovers. 7pm. Parrilla Grill, 635 NW 14th Street.

The Autonomics

thursday-saturday 1-3

To celebrate the release of their impressive new EP, Good Luck and Medicine, the neato dudes of the Autonomics are hitting the town for a string of three shows. See the On Stage column for more on the band, the killer record and a list of their shows this weekend.

2010 Breedlove Festival

saturday 3

Now in its second year, the Breedlove festival brings some of the best guitar players in the world to Bend at the guitar maker's campus on the far westside of Bend. This year's lineup includes Ed Gerhard, The Make Peace Brothers, Ben Lacy, Joshua Craig Podolsky as well as local artists. If you're an ax man or woman, be sure to check out the talent competition and the factory tours. $10, under age 10 free. 12pm-10pm. Breedlove Campus, 2843 NW Lolo Drive.

Fourth of July

sunday 4

"... And we're proud to be Americans, because at least we get to sing Lee Greenwood songs." And we get to shoot off fireworks and eat food and get sunburned and walk our pets down a downtown city street! All of this and more in our Fourth of July spread on pages 12 and 13.

Cheaper by the Dozen

Opens July 7

The Bend Experimental Art Theatre is back with another production, this time with this theatrical interpretation of the classic book by the Gilbreth family, who used their terrifyingly huge family to help with their time/motion studies. Or... perhaps you heard of this story from the Steve Martin filmic version - it's on TBS all the time. 7pm showings. 2pm matinee on Sunday, July 11. $15/adults, $10/kids. Wednesday, Jul 7. 2nd Street Theater, 220 NE Lafayette Ave.

Sara Jackson-Holman
CD Release

monday 5

Have you heard about Sara Jackson-Holman? We profiled her at length in this year's local music guide, but if you didn't know, she's a 21-year-old Bend native whose catchy piano pop has already got her a record deal and placed her music on television. But the crazy thing is she's never played a show in Bend, partially because she just recently started gigging. She'll celebrate the release of her new album, When You Dream, at this show... finally! 7pm. The Oxford Hotel Ballroom, 10 NW Minnesota Ave.

Kasey Anderson,
Tim Coffey

wednesday 7

Portland troubadour Kasey Anderson is a Northwest songwriting gem, kicking out one dusty yet solid Americana foot-tapper after another. He's currently touring behind his well-crafted and soulful new album, Nowhere Nights, which has earned him some notoriety as of late, including an opening slot for Steve Earle in Bend earlier this week. $5. 9pm. Silver Moon Brewing Co., 24 NW Greenwood Ave.

Oregon Bach Festival

wednesday 7

While the Oregon Bach Festival takes place in Eugene, the celebration of one of the greatest classical artists of all time also has a Bend component that comes to the Tower Theatre. At this show, you'll hear Bach's Orchestral Suites in a new way with help from the Portland Baroque Orchestra. Reserved Seating: $15, $25, $35. 7:30pm Tower Theatre, 835 NW Wall St.

Pinback Presents: The Rob & Zach Show

thursday 8

The last time Rob Crow and Zach Smith came to the Domino Room more than two years ago, they played as Pinback and issued a blistering set that was only slightly hampered by Crow's nasty head cold. Now, the guys are returning, playing without a band - and this is a good thing, because these two guys can make more than enough delightful noise on their own to remind you of why Central Oregon loves this band. All ages. $14/adv, $17/door. Tickets at Bendticket.com, Ranch Records, TicketsWest.com (800-992-8499). 9pm. Domino Room, 51 NW Greenwood Ave.
