While the pluckers and strummers still support the bulk of the lineup, there are some more adventurous, not to mention big, names at the fest this year. Los Tikkilyches

Hailing from Sayulita, Mexico, this band is making a run through Bend and the rest of Oregon. Comprised of both Americans and Mexicans, the band was described by a couple of Bendites who vacationed down in Sayulita as "solid musicians and a really fun bar band." Los Tikkilyches combines everything from funk to world influences for what should be a pair of solid dancing and drinking blowouts this week in town. Again, we really had no idea who this guy was when his show was announced last spring. Seriously. Never even heard the name. But since then, we've caught Aldean's boot-stomping, Coors-light-swillin' country rock on the late night talk show circuit and couldn't help but notice he's got a top-25 album right now. the Roman Candles

This Alaskan now based out of Boise and his firework-themed band has played Bend a few times in the past couple of years, dishing out a solid Americana-influenced take on indie rock. Think Ryan Adams mixed with, well, Ryan Adams. But that's not a bad thing, not at all, especially given that his live show is certified bonkers awesome. This local performer is a storyteller, and we're not talking about children's stuff here. Jackson found success with his one-man show style performances in London and is now back in Bend and giving us a taste of his stuff this Friday, and next Friday as well. Check it out. This pair of Las Vegas dude-bro DJ/MCs have found a market in the club and bar scenes with their weird combination of techno and hip-hop that's laced with rock samples. Their song, "She'd Rather Be With the DJ" turned some heads this year as did their conveniently rhyming "Swagger Like Mick Jagger." 10pm. The Underground Club, 2221 NE 3rd St. $10.

Luck One, Top Shelf, DJ Hit n Runn

Hip-hop takes over the Martini Bar, which is hardly out of the ordinary, but what's particularly interesting is an appearance by Portland's Luck One, a silky smooth rapper with a mostly positive message. Luck One (real name Hanif Collins) is making a name for himself in the hip-hop world after serving a six-year robbery sentence in the Oregon State Correctional Institution. 9pm. XTerra Trail Running
National Championships

The biggest event in all of US trail running is coming to Bend this year with this National Championship event featuring regional champions from all over the country. The championship race is a half-marathon (13.1 miles) that starts in Bend before hitting the trails along the river and beyond before returning to a finish in the Old Mill. Hill Country Revue

A lot of people wondered what would happen to North Mississippi All-Stars once guitarist Luther Dickinson became a full-time member of the Black Crowes, and here's the answer: Hill Country Revue. The band includes NMA drummer (and Luther's brother) Cody Dickinson as well as large-framed bassist Chris Chew as well as three additional members that bring a high-powered blues rock sound not far off from that of NMA.
