Dave Attell

Comedian Dave Attell has built his career and his standup set on getting drunk in strange cities and chatting about his raunchy experiences. Perhaps best known for his Comedy Central television show, "Insomniac with Dave Attell" which visited random US and European cities where Attell would drink irresponsibly and take disposable camera photos (pre-iPhone) of his random, often ill-advised activities. His tart, pointed comedy has also appeared on "Arrested Development," "Crank Yankers" and "Everybody Loves Raymond." 7:30 & 10:30 pm. Helium Comedy Club. $30.

Portland State of Mind

Certainly the city of Portland is a unique mindset, one perhaps defined not but logical thoughts or concrete ideas, but by foggy sounds, like the remarkable showcase included for "Portland State of Mind": The easy-going, string-heavy and mystical Radiation City, the breathy and hypnotic Natasha Kmeto and the hyper electronica Bollywood beats of The Incredible Kid. 6 pm. PSU's Smith Memorial Student Union. $10-15.

Trampled by Turtles

This Minnesota modern bluegrass band is twisting traditional genres into contemporary music. "Wait So Long," off their fifth album, is a masterpiece of chugging guitar, speedy mandolin solos and banjo picking that fits as well on top-40 radio as on a screened-in porch in the country. Nicki Bluhm and the Gamblers open. 8 pm. Crystal Ballroom. $26.

Goodwill's Running Dead 5K & Apocalypse Party

When the zombie apocalypse comes, you'll have to choose a side. Whether you plan to terrorize the masses while feasting on delicious brains (braaaaiiiiiins) or aspire to defend the innocent as a monster slayer, this run lets you practice for the part. Get into the role-play with optional special effects makeup and run for your life (or someone else's) to win prizes and raise funds for Goodwill job training programs. Dusk.
