Luz Mendoza and Esmè Patterson

Front woman of Latin-flavored folk band Y La Bamaba, Luz Mendoza, and former vocalist in Denver folk collective Paper Bird, Esmè Patterson, step out on their own to present a night of lady-centric pop. There are few women who write songs as well as these two, take for example Patterson's 2014 release, Woman to Woman, a concept album that gives voice to the faceless women songs like "Loretta," "Eleanor Rigby" and "Jolene," telling their side of the story. 8 pm. Doug Fir Lounge. $8.

The Felice Brothers

"I poured some whiskey, into my whiskey," begins the Felice Brother's song aptly named, "Whiskey in my Whiskey." In a growling, drunken gravel tenor, vocalist Ian Felice explains he put "his boots on the dance floor," and "three rounds in my 44." With the drawl of the fiddle and a Loretta Lynn old time-country guitar riff, the Felice Brothers jones for a long-lost time of smoky saloons and western shootouts. 7:30 pm. Wonder Ballroom. $16-18.

Leftover Salmon ft. Bill Payne

After a turbulent two decades, fraught with the death of a band member and a much-needed hiatus, the jamgrass legends of Leftover Salmon are experiencing a rebirth of sorts. The band, which describes itself as "polyethnic Cajun slamgrass," released its first album with original songs in 2012 and has another new album due in November. To top it off, they're touring with piano rock and blues icon Bill Payne (Little Feat). 9pm. The Applegate Lodge. $25.

Polish Ambassador Nope, not a special envoy from the UN, but a happy-go-lucky producer of bass-heavy yet amazingly effervescent beats. A true multi-media artist, the Polish Ambassador is joined by his co-creator Liminus, who translates the bass-heavy soundscapes into vibrant video projections—truly, a show unto itself. 8:30 pm. Ashland Armory. $15 adv., $20 door.
