KLCC Microbrew Festival 2015

Bringing classic fundraising out of the standard car washes and pledge drives, KLCC (Eugene's NPR affiliate, 88.1) holds a microbrew tasting event instead featuring collaboration brews and a homebrew competition, along with a cd and record music sale. Seventy-five breweries will serve up 190 craft brews. "Eugene's Best Band," Sol Seed, and soul/funk/rock-Americana group Jelly Bread will provide the live music for the festival. Great beer and great music for a great radio station? We'll drink to that. 5 - 11 pm, Feb 6. 1 -11 pm, Feb 7. Lane Events Center. $12 in adv., $15, door.

"Carmen"

Nothing like a friendly lovers' quarrel to set the mood for Valentine's Day. "Carmen" is played by Sandra Piques Eddy, a mezzo-soprano who is making a name for herself with this role as a gypsy meddling with two men's hearts—a military man and a bullfighter. Though she sees her own life is a gamble through her gifts of foresight, she still seeks true love with the help of her smuggling band. 7:30 pm, Feb. 6 & 10. 2 pm, Feb 8. Keller Auditorium, $30—$270.

Portland International Film Festival

The 38th annual Portland International Film Festival starts on February 5 and runs through the 21st. With 97 features and 60 shorts to choose from, picking what to go and see can be a challenge. When in doubt, go with Oregon. Twelve shorts filmed in Oregon will be included in the Festival, and the bonus is that they are all filmed in English with an easy-to-understand Oregon accent. That's right, we are part of this world, too. Complete schedule and locations: www.nwfilm.org. $9—$50.

Trail Blazers vs. Lakers

Back from two games on the road in Texas, the Trail Blazers are ready to compete in a West Coast match-up. With Kobe Bryant out for the rest of the season (but back next season, rumor has it) with a shoulder injury and surgery, the Blazers are looking good for a division title. Also, guard Damian Lillard was just passed up for a spot on the All Stars roster, despite his impressive stats and lack of injury this season. Redemption time! 7 pm. Moda Center. $27 and up.
