Out of Town 9/4 - 9/12

friday 6-saturday 7

Cider Summit Seattle

If there is one thing the Northwest dominates at, it's beer. And now, we're trying to add ciders to that list. SBS Imports and the Seattle Beer Collective bring a mass selection of ciders for the fourth annual Northwest Festival, with four-ounce tasting samples to convince you that cider is the perfect fall beverage of choice. Stick around for live music, food to soak up all of that cider, and specially designed filled chocolates by Smitten Truffles for dessert. South Lake Union Discovery Center. 3-8 pm &12-6pm. $25-30.

saturday 7-sunday 8

Banana Stand Week

Banana Stand Media (please, let that be an "Arrested Development" reference) is an independent record label and recording studio in Southeast Portland that offers affordably priced recording time—not breaking the bank—for up-and-coming Portland bands. To keep prices low, the label releases a live annual compilation album with tracks recorded in its studio. During the week of MusicFestNW, Banana Stand will host nine shows (all but one of which will be free) to promote it newest compellation, Live at the Banana Stand, Volume 2, with tracks from Fanno Creek, Animal Eyes, Radiation City and Old Age— all top notch Portland indie bands. Various locations. Free.

saturday 7

Lily Tomlin

A character named Earnestine the telephone operator may sound dated to the average iPhone-wielding millennial, but comedy legend Lilly Tomlin's most famous personality still kills it. Google it, youngsters. We have a lot of respect for any woman who wins a Tony for her one-woman Broadway show and six Emmys in her career, and at the age of 74, still performs a standup act. Arlene Schnitzer. 7:30 pm. $53-100.

saturday 7

Wild Seafood Weekend

Fresh seafood and drinks courtesy from Rogue Brewery, live entertainment, prizes, raffles, a catered dinner, followed by dessert, all in addition to ocean views and an easy-going weekend lifestyle on the Oregon Coast. Dock Walks will be available during the day to learn about commercial fisherman with an appetizer competition between Newport and surrounding area chefs. Get your feast and drink on at the 5th annual Wild Seafood Weekend. Port Dock 5 & Pacific Maritime & Heritage Center. 10 am-3 pm & 5-8 pm. Free.
