Best bang for the buck: Ounce for ounce, penny for penny, Riverside has the best pint-glass-sized mimosas in town. And Mondays are $1 PBR night. This is summertime easy living: picnic tables on the patio, corn hole in the yard, and a crew of regular friendly faces.
Boken, 852 NW Brooks St.
Boken, the latest addition to outdoor eating and drinking and the Source's restaurant of the year—is wrapping up its expansion into a new bar and lounge (called Dojo). The expansion includes a sun-soaked patio adjacent to Drake Park and a stylish fire pit, proving that summer and outdoor eating can be highbrow. Subtle and delicious raw fish dishes with a side of Japanese whiskey sounds pretty great for a lazy dog afternoon.
Wall Street, 917 NW Wall St.
Wall Street is a great joint for a post-lunch light beer (PBRs available, bottle or tap) or a late-night drink. The people watching is half the appeal of this hole-in-the-wall downtown hangout.
Old Mill Brew Wërks, 803 SW Industrial Way
The relocation to the former Brickhouse location on Industrial Way only improves the already wonderful: The high-class pub fare menu prepared by chef Rudy Garcia remains intact, and the back-slapping friendly service is still there. Add to the equation a luminous patio overlooking the Deschutes River. Open for lunch and dinner or an afternoon brew.
Bend Brewing Company, 1019 NW Brooks St.
Around 4 pm the sun should be rounding the corner to hit the BBC back patio in full force. A reasonable happy hour menu (our favorite appetizer is the $5 nachos!) and newly added cocktail options are crowd pleasers.
Anthony's, 475 SW Powerhouse Dr.
Happy hour at Anthony's (3-6 pm) means $5 martinis, a short but tasty menu of appetizers, and full view of a constant stream of standup paddleboarders on the Deschutes.
GoodLife, 70 SW Century Dr.
With a well-kept courtyard and an abundance of yard games, GoodLife's side patio is the fun-loving spot to be, especially on Locals Night (Thursday), when beers are only $2.50!
Crux, 50 SW Division St.
Crux Fermentation Project has an enviable view of the sunset over Mt. Bachelor; hence, its Sunset Special (a half hour before and after the sun goes down). $1 off pints and $2 off appetizers while taking in the spectacular vista.
Astro Lounge, 939 NW Bond St.
The occasional back patio fire-in-a-trash-can is all the more reason (we think) to spend some time out back of the magnetically hip spot for 20- and 30-somethings.

With a sprawling outdoor patio as big as its indoor seating area, Worthy Brewery is spacious and welcoming. Fir pits and clever pizzas complement the well-crafted beers.
